How we started
“Our journey started from a simple order which turned into a powerful idea. How great would it be if I could have my lunch delivered to me right here, right now?”
Founded by CEO Manohar Adhikari, who faced challenges finding time to eat during his IT career, Foodmandu began in 2010 with just 1,000 users and 10 partner restaurants. Aiming to bridge the gap between food and convenience, the company focused on innovation and accessibility, gradually expanding to multiple locations by 2015.
By 2017, Foodmandu had grown to 100,000 users and 500 restaurants, marking its expansion to Pokhara. That same year, it launched the “Foodmandu Online Food Festival,” featuring in-app food stalls, music, and interactive activities to engage customers. This growth and innovation attracted a second round of investment, fueling the company’s continued expansion and presence in Nepal’s food delivery market.
As Foodmandu continued growing in food and beverage delivery, the demand for grocery delivery led to the launch of “Foodmandu Fresh” in 2020, catering to the busy lifestyle of Kathmandu’s residents. This marked a new step in providing essential daily needs with ease and convenience.
From its 2010 beginnings to now, Foodmandu has expanded its services across Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and as of April 2024, Chitwan. The company has also extended operations to Butwal with positive response and introduced “Foodmandu Onemart,” an instant grocery delivery service promising delivery within 15 minutes. This continued focus on innovation reflects Foodmandu’s mission to make food and essentials easily accessible across Nepal.
