How we started

“Our journey started from a simple order which turned into a powerful idea. How great would it be if I could have my lunch delivered to me right here, right now?”

Born from the idea of CEO Manohar Adhikari, who himself struggled to find time for meals amidst his busy IT job, Foodmandu started small with just 1,000 users and 10 restaurants. Bridging the gap between food, an essential to human life, and convenient access anytime anywhere, Foodmandu started its journey with focus on innovation and providing people with easy food access. We launched our app early in 2010 and by 2015, we expanded our reach to multiple locations.

2017 was a significant year of growth for us, reaching a customer base of 1,00,000 people, 500 restaurants on the app, and expansion to Pokhara. Innovation continued with the “Foodmandu Online Food Festival” to engage customers and restaurants where we had an in-app carnival including online food stalls, background music, and a lot of activities. 

While growth and expansion to food and beverage service was ongoing, we at Foodmandu felt the rising need to provide grocery delivery service or “Foodmandu Fresh” in the busy, hustling crowd of Kathmandu in 2020. From 2010 to now, Foodmandu has always looked to cater to innovation and convenient food access to everyone living in the Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara city and now starting April 2024, has expanded its reach to Chitwan.
